“15 principles of creativity that not only inspire but also set you up for a lifetime of self-expression.”
Reignite your creative spark with accessible practices developed by three experts on creativity and collaboration across three generations.
Whether you’re a filmmaker, writer, musician, artist, graphic designer, dabbler, or doodler, all creative people face the challenges of myriad distractions and pressure to produce. Devoting space for the creative spark has become increasingly difficult.
In this 2-hour session, Dennis Patrick Slattery explores his ways of creating, as well as the process involved in co-creating with two other authors of the award-winning book, Deep Creativity: Seven Ways to Spark Your Creative Spirit (Shambhala, 2019).
The authors’ novel approach includes fifteen principles of creativity that not only inspire but also set you up for a lifetime of self-expression.
We will also explore an example from the book in which suffering was the impetus to create. One 15-minute writing meditation and time for those who wish to share their writing as we end our session.
Who Is It For
My audience is anyone, at any age, who has become aware of one's creative possibilities.
It is addressed as well to those who may not believe they are creative or who have stalled in their creative journey.
It is also addressed to those who may have begun a creative project but have stalled in its completion.
It addresses those who sense that something in their lives is incomplete because they may have lost or discarded any idea of being creative.

He is currently working on the 8th volume of poetry, enjoys being a father to his sons and their partners and eldering his three granddaughters, aged 22, 10, and 5. He has been married to Sandy, his beloved wife, for 54 years.
About Dennis Slattery’s book Deep Creativity
“Deep Creativity is an appeal, reminder, and summons to engage the autonomous “Other” that resides within each of us, just outside the range of ego intentionality. The authors appeal to our innate desire to create the world around us and to reclaim our coauthorship of experience that seeks incarnation in the world through us. Through examples and precepts, they lead the reader into a new experience of what is oldest in each of us.”
—James Hollis, PhD, author of Living an Examined Life

“…probing essays into both the madness and euphoria of making art…”
For those whose creative life could use a boost as well as a grounding, reading and engaging with Deep Creativity offers a warm breeze of inspiration, as if from the original Altar of the Muses in Athens. This unique work combines probing essays into both the madness and euphoria of making art with a range of practices designed to rekindle the love and attentiveness needed for soulful self-expression.
