“How can we find soul and spirit through trauma and put the pieces back together?”
After a massive heart attack that left my physical heart substantially and permanently damaged, I found myself drawing images that arose from the unconscious. A year later, I went over each of the images to try to understand them from a psychological point of view. To my surprise, they showed an alchemical pattern of transformation and a spiritual path that I was unaware of at the time.
The material became the basis of several solo art shows, a book, and an interview with Rob Henderson in Psychological Perspectives.
The presentation is in a format to encourage questions and discussion.
It also includes a free Kindle book with original images and commentary. Participants are encouraged but not expected to be familiar with the book.
You can get a preview of the book here: www.heartattackandsoul.com

Your Instructor
Stephen Parker, PhD is a Jungian psychologist and stone wrestler. He has worked for forty years throughout Alaska and presented on numerous Jungian topics during that time. Stephen has also run a toy store -- Happy Moose Toys -- specializing in sandplay items and a Jungian bookstore.
Heart issues beginning twenty years ago led him to write "Heart Attack and Soul," which became the basis of several solo art shows. He has also been working with stone for twenty years and has built a large Stone Sanctuary with numerous stone features. Most recently, he has been working on a large sunken stone spiral labyrinth, a five-year project.
Stephen Parker work has been featured in Psychological Perspectives and displayed at Commonweal in Bolinas, California. He lives in a birch forest in the hills of Fairbanks, Alaska, with his partner -- Kornelia Grabinska, PhD, a Jungian analyst -- next to his two grown children, grandchild, three family dogs, a Stone Sanctuary, and a Sunken Spiral Labyrinth.
“We are moved to witness the transition to his life after as it forges its way to renewal.”
When the heart stops, the world comes to an end.
The work of Steve Parker shows us that there is life after the end, after the heart has been attacked by death, and survived. In his remarkable reports and stunning paintings, we are moved to witness the transition from his life before to his life after as it forges its way to renewal.
