“How does the father abandonment affect our body, mind, and soul?”
Fairytales replicate the life characters we meet through relationships and dreams. They reflect situations and emotions we all might experience.
We will discuss the tale of the Handless Maiden and how it depicts the issues of abandonment, paternal loss, and emotional absence enacted in the psyche, family, culture, and trans-generationally. This is a common present-day experience in the life of many.
The tale highlights the puella archetype noted in Jungian analytical psychology. She represents the feminine conundrum of growing into her strength of self, the limits to this, and the possibilities occurring from growing up in our narcissistic culture.
How does the father abandonment affect our body, mind, and soul? We conclude with the path leading to growth and hope.
