“It is not I who create myself, rather I happen to myself.”
- Carl Jung

Fairytales replicate the life characters we meet through relationships and dreams. They reflect situations and emotions we all might experience.

Entering the Bluebeard fairy tale opens the door into a wider but threatening reality. The characters reveal the complexes blocking energy. Moving from innocence to dependency and ruthlessness emerges as part of becoming oneself.

The perspective of Jungian psychology, the analytical process, and the tale itself bring unconscious, murderous, destructive elements of the psyche to the forefront. We cannot help but feel the predicaments and terrors of the characters through their skeins of meaning—personal, cultural, and collective. Within these layers abide our own emotions, shadow truths, and the narratives for unfolding the conundrum into oneself.

 Who Is It For

  • Men and women, fathers and daughters seeking to repair the father abandonment.

  • People interested in Jungian analytical psychology.

  • Those looking for some practical means for psychological growth.

  • Those curious about the process of individuation explored through the symbolism of fairytales.

I was very moved both by your presentation and the resonance it had for me. Some new thoughts and wonderings about what may be still operative unconsciously in my psyche and that of my daughters.
